Common Questions
-
No. The wall stage requires no formal masonry or trade qualification. Thermacell blocks dry-stack using precision interlocking keyways—much like large Lego blocks—without wet mortar beds, internal metal spacers, or double-sided bracing. While you will need licenced contractors for the slab, concrete boom pump, electrical rough-in, and plumbing, two people can easily stack and reinforce the wall system themselves.
-
We don’t just drop pallets in your paddock and drive away. Every delivery includes an on-site demonstration where a Thermacell specialist walks your slab, inspects your starter bars, and stacks the first course with you. We make sure your alignment is square and you know exactly how to secure lintels, bucks, and bracing before pour day.
-
Thermacell achieves 7 stars structurally rather than relying on tacked-on wraps or extra insulation batts. The system combines continuous dual-layer EPS insulation with a high-mass concrete core. This creates a thermal flywheel effect that absorbs and slowly releases ambient heat, easily achieving R3.5+ whole-of-wall ratings and eliminating thermal bridging entirely.
-
Yes. Thermacell’s high-density EPS casing and heavy-duty keyways are engineered specifically to withstand the hydrostatic pressure of full-height pours (2.5m to 3.0m in a single lift). We provide you and your concrete pump operator with exact concrete slump, aggregate sizing, and pour-rate specifications to ensure a clean, blowout-free fill

Thermacell has been manufactured and built across Australia since 1984. The system holds official CSIRO technical appraisals, James Cook University structural cyclone testing, and certified AS 3959 BAL-29 bushfire ratings. It is fully compliant with the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards (AS 3600), making council and private certifier approvals straightforward nationwide.
In 1984, founder Geoff Bennett brought the German Isorast insulated concrete formwork system to Australia, establishing local manufacturing to give Australians a stronger, better-insulated alternative to lightweight frames and brick veneer. Forty years later, Thermacell remains proudly family-run.
When you build with Thermacell, you aren't dealing with sales reps or middle brokers; you work directly with the family that manufactures the blocks, reviews your plans, and stands on your slab to stack the first course with you.
