About Thermacell

How do I fix the walls to the slab or footings?

Starter bars are only required in cyclonic areas, which are north of Coffs Harbour and inland from the coast for 100km.

The weight of the concrete core is sufficient to hold the walls down to the slab, just as it is for brick walls. When poured, the concrete core in the blocks seals itself down to the slab or footings.

Recessed slabs are not required and difficult to build with, and we do not advise using them.

Thermacell walls come under the category of single-leaf masonry walls. You are not building a cavity wall and therefore a recessed slab is not necessary .

Cavity walls are for draining water that works its way through conventional brick walls. Thermacell walls are rendered on the outside, and the render provides adequate waterproofing.
