We are often asked, ”Are expansion joints necessary in Thermacell walls?”, The answer is no.
We have never used expansion joints in our walls – they are simply not necessary. Even in the 7-storey walls on the Grand Chancellor Federation Concert Hall in Hobart, there are no expansion joints.
Thermacell walls are steel-reinforced concrete walls, which are insulated by the polystyrene blocks.
The concrete core is kept at a constant temperature, so there is little or no expansion.
